Would this pass

I didn't like this one. I didn't bother with the retaining ring and how you had to rotate the tool instead of the handle when dialing the settings. I didn't like the label either. They were in twos, then the last number I think was 13.5. For example, I needed 53 in/lb. I couldn't lock the ring at this point, and I had a guess as to where to place it between 2 and 4. The locking ring didn't lock it in that position either. Only 2 or 4. Just not interested in this feature of the tool. I bought a…

Bad choice for scales

Good quality torque wrench but setting the pitch is a math job. The ring adjustment increases it by 14 in. lbs per full turn, but the linear scale is divided into 30 in. lbs starting at 40 and 55 in. lbs. This means that the zero on the adjustment ring can ONLY match the divisions on the linear scale at 140 in-lbs, with the exception of the next divisions at 130 and 145 in-lbs. So never. It's just an odd design decision. Look for Capri Tools Industrial on the left. One revolution, 5 ft. lb…

Sizing issues I guess my fault

So I've never used this thing as it turns out 1/4" is the only size available for the lower inch pound option I'm not deciding on the size of outlets I need on my ATVs. What a big pain. I'm so paranoid I'm about to break the drain plug/bolt for an oil change and I can't find an inch wrench (low torque read) with a large 1/2" size! I already broke my stupid oil filler cap on an ATV which required a hex wrench. It took me 2 hours to find a replacement part. I've been changing oil in for 35 years…

Pros
  • Best in the niche
Cons
  • Appearance

So far I'm happy with this although I haven't checked the calibration which isn't as important to me as engine heads, axle nuts and other highly stressed parts. I've used it on the transmission pan bolts after adjusting them slightly with a t-handle wrench, which was the first time I've done it, and otherwise I've never had a reason to own an inch-pound torque wrench . I've never used a torque wrench on my wheels for thirty years without problems, but now I do the same with my big wrench. They…

Holds up well!

This review is written after 1 year of possession and frequent use of the tool. I am a helicopter mechanic and depend on tools that can retain both their quality and purpose. If not, and an accurate instrument like this loses its calibration without knowing it, things can get really bad at an even worse time. I have used this torque wrench many times. First, the increments are accurate to within half a foot/pound, plus or minus the 4% required in my career. Second, the audible clicking hasn't…
