Great results with a quality pencil set

I bought this set of colored pencils on the advice of a very experienced colorist and illustrator. I have used a variety of high quality pens but wanted a set of very good pens. I love them and use them in combination with other dyes whenever I get the chance. I find they build up beautifully without the waxy buildup I sometimes get when applying multiple layers of Prismacolor pencils. I'm very happy with the results I'm getting from the wide range of colors available in this set. I will upload

Pros
  • Cream - soft - waterproof
Cons
  • Almost never

Quality and beauty - but I don't feel that way

They just don't make me feel like I appreciate my favorite colored pencils. I prefer Prisma Premiers pens because they kind of squeeze and I know and love colors. However, sometimes Prismas can be too soft, which is why I really like the Arteza Expert, which is a mix of Prismas and Polychromos in the house they feel and lay down. Other than that I love the quality of these Pablos and they have nice colors but they really don't. Surprise me. They're not my "go-to" like I was hoping. I use them…

Pros
  • 3.7mm leads
Cons
  • Low maintenance

The best pens

Wonderful, amazing pens. This is my favorite set and that speaks volumes because I am very attached to many pencil sets. The color scheme, the quality and how you use it is bliss. I don't like very hard colored pencils - at least the ones that feel too hard or dry. Especially those that grind or scratch paper - they are uncomfortable to use. It's not like that at all - they're dense rather than tight, right - while they keep a good point and are tight, I still don't consider them tight, at…

Pros
  • Cream - soft - waterproof
Cons
  • Not as thick as other pens

Cost, Quality, Applications and Gifts

Caran d'Ache manufactures an exemplary line of products for professional artists, encompassing a variety of colored pencils including the Pablo line. These wonderful pens are available in sets of 12, 18, 30, 40, 80 and 120 and offer a wide range of beautiful colours. work and also provide a smooth, consistent application. I find these pens work best on surfaces with a small tip to enhance their ability to blend and layer, resulting in rich color payoff and smooth transitions. A lot of people…

Artist Review - What you REALLY need to know. UPDATED.

What you need to know: I LOVE how these pens work. They layer and blend absolutely beautifully. They sharpen smoothly, hold an edge well and are comfortable to use. There is no plaque and you can continue layering past the point where the tooth of the paper is filled. (Please note that while I enjoy painting in other artists' work as a hobby, I am writing this review from the perspective of a professional artist.) Remember: These are NOT soft pens. They are built to be layered. So if you're…

Pros
  • Great for blending in mixed media
Cons
  • Expensive
