This article appeared in the Frequently Purchased section of my original article. I have not checked the specs but this is not a replacement part for the ozonator I purchased. This item should NOT be listed as "frequently bought together". I only had to pay postage to get my $ back which is even worse. Please remove it from "Often".

To be clear these are not original GermGuardian pre-filters, they "fit GermGuardian 4825" which is fine with me. But the quality is worse than the original. It looks like one of those green sponges that people use to clean pots and pans, not a charcoal pre-filter. There are no velcro points to connect to the HEPA filter and this pre-filter wears out leaving threads everywhere.

The filter is a great way to extend the life of my HEPA filter. Just after July 4th, I checked my air purifier's activated carbon pre-filter. Particulate matter from all the fireworks near my house has coated the old charcoal pre-filter. It was great to be able to quickly swap out just this item to extend the life of my HEPA filter. It's still important to change the true HEPA filter regularly, but I feel like changing the carbon pre-filter really helps it last a short time.

This filter is easy to install and can serve you well. I'll never know because when I turned the air purifier back on, a strong smell, like rubbing alcohol, permeated the room. I have multiple chemical sensitivities (which is one of the reasons I use a cleanser) so this was a BIG issue for me. I'm much better off not using any cleaner than having a filter that smells like chemicals! So I'm going back to the original brand name filter. Sometimes cheap is just cheap.

The right one consists ONLY of the activated carbon pre-filters and is perfect for my 4800 series, comes in a nice little resealable plastic bag and is about a dollar less than other budget filters. The reason I keep buying them is because they work and fit, don't smell funny and don't do anything that some reviewers say of other brands/types. I recently bought a replacement HEPA filter for my GermGuardian and wasn't aware that it also came with an activated carbon -Pre-filter is supplied, so also ordered these 4 packs. The quality is the same as the GermGuardian HEPA filter, although the size is slightly different.
