Just drill out the old one and put in the new one. I just went to Harbor Freight and bought a rivet gun. I've never used it and it was as easy as cutting a cake. Works much better than my screwdriver setup. So to my complaint. After all, I'll be in the same boat in a few years. The spring they use to keep the pressure on the pen wears out. It's not pen wear. This might be an easy fix, but Carefree looks like they want you to buy a brand new pen.

I have ordered 2 of these handles for the Carefree of Colorado Spirit awning. These were the only ones remotely similar to the originals. Both pens arrived in the same postal envelope, one box of pens was broken and the rivet was missing. I have a friend at the dealer who got me a new rivet, so the installation began. The first pen I received was defective. The locking pin was missing. Sent back and ordered again. The grip change was correct. This pen replaces Spirit, Spirit FX, Fiesta and Simplicity plus. Drilled out 2 rivets with a 1/8" bit. New handle did not fit properly in the existing hole. Upon close inspection there is a small pour line on the bottom tab. and fits perfectly. A bit confusing as the parts come with 2 rivets and the picture shows 1. With that in mind I threw away the bones and ordered the first replacement pin which arrived very quickly and with only one rivet. The handle is designed to use only one rivet for installation. I bought this to replace the handle on a Border 95 with a carefree Spirit awning with no obvious FX or Fiesta markings. My original grip has a two small rivet design and I think the replacement grip has a better design so I drilled…
