Fixed Starting Issues

I bought this pump to replace a mechanical fuel pump in a Big Block Dart. The car was almost impossible to start after a week or two of inactivity. Now all I have to do is turn the key, let the pressure fill the carburetor with gas, step on the accelerator and fire the starter. and let's go. I installed this pump using a Painless Performance wiring harness with relay and circuit breaker specifically for electric fuel pump installation. and now I'm a happy tourist. BUT I hate those fancy metalโ€ฆ

Electrical connections work well when done right

I've seen many complaints about electrical connections coming loose or falling off, but I don't think they understand the need to fit a rubber cover over a white nylon step, where the pen comes out. It's quite difficult to get them all the way in, but the boot is flexible rubber and slips around the edge, it's pretty tight and should hold up well. It would be helpful if Carter made this clear in the instructions, but they don't. Personally I would prefer a threaded bolt with lock washer and nut

Great RV fuel pump!

My Allegro RV had a fuel leak (fortunately in the driveway I think). And checking the fuel lines revealed that the pump itself was original (32 years old) so it just seemed like the best time to replace that too. It matches my original in setup and features and was very easy to install. The only difficulty was getting my sore butt under the van and staving off the mosquitoes. The kit includes all the parts needed for direct replacement and work with rigid and rubber tubing and electricalโ€ฆ

Dead head pressure after filling is 6.5-7psi, flow is great

This pump solved my LONG STANDING problem with a 12S Mr Gasket pump I was using that was pushing over 10psi, IDK as far as mine Gauge reads ten, but the truck won't be idling that much. I put a Mr G regulator on it and it blew the diaphragm so I was skeptical so I tested it first and it outputs just the right pressure for my Q-Jet. I even removed the bypass regulator I had installed and that solved all of my fueling issues. I can't say how long this will take, it's only been a few days, butโ€ฆ

Pump not delivering specified pressure

After spending over a month trying to find a problem with my 1975 Airstream RV and assuming that fuel delivery might no longer be a problem (because it was completely replaced), I installed a vacuum gauge/gauge on the fuel line and found that the pressure at the carburetor was only 1.5-2psi. I then took readings from both sides of the actual pump. the same: 1.5-2psi. I can't believe that after replacing the entire fuel delivery system (pump, filter, lines, sensor/intake manifold) and thenโ€ฆ

Modern Solution to Legendary Problems

Village elders still talk around the campfire about the days when cars were fitted with what were called "carburetors," Byzantine devices used to spray gasoline to inject oxygen into it a stoichiometric ratio of 14.78 to 1. According to legend, these devices stood many moons on gasoline engines, but were destroyed like dinosaurs around 1982. There are still some carburetor engines among the villagers, but most suffer from various diseases. Problems, including a tendency to "vapor lock," aโ€ฆ

what happened to carter

I bought this pump to replace the crankcase pump on my old 30ft Allegro RV. This pump was a crank case and was almost 20 years old and just couldn't hold any pressure. I bought this thinking I would add something of quality and hopefully reliable boy I was wrong. I installed the first pump with new brackets and fittings, new lines and filters so I wouldn't have to do this again for the next 20 years. Start the rig and the pump works so I take a walk and nothing, it falls to the ground when itโ€ฆ
