Excellent customer service aside

I am an avid hiker, have never used trekking poles. The upcoming drive through the steep, muddy terrain seemed to be a reason to buy. I love high quality gear, I hate paying for something redesigned for my needs. These poles are priced right and have the right features (foldable for travel, adjustable height for different people/needs, multiple mounts, cork grips). After several test hikes, a stick began to annoy with a creaking noise. A quick email to the company and the person replied. The…

Not very durable I'm afraid.

I picked these on a FB recommendation from a walking group I'm a member of. I was traveling by plane in August and needed a set that folds up and didn't really want to spend a lot of money. They worked great - on that first trip. On the second walk, the part of the lower segment that merges into the middle segment bent slightly when the tip got caught between two stones. Honestly, I didn't find it a lot of effort, but yes, it bent. However, the pillar appeared to be quite strong. On my third…

Poor quality control for an otherwise good product

Carbon fiber is a very strong and lightweight material, ideal for trekking poles. Unfortunately my sticks arrived with a few problems so I will be returning them.1. The plastic disc fell out of one of the folding joints. The function of the washer may be to prevent damage to the elastic cord connecting the sections. If so, this cable is now unprotected.2. At full compaction, the posts are not equal in length. When comparing two bars side by side, one bar has a longer sleeve (it's fused and not…

Cheap parts can be purchased

I love the availability of parts from Cascade Mountain Tech. One of my sticks recently broke and I was able to purchase a replacement for $9 plus tax with free shipping. I saw on their website that they also sell spare parts for their other models - I will definitely continue to offer them my services. As for the broken rod, yes, it would be nice if nothing ever broke. But I don't think a light trekking pole can break. When you choose lightweight camping gear, you're making a trade-off between…

Lasted 3 years, refurbished

Used for hiking and hunting on and off trail in very steep terrain. Cons: Almost immediately, the carbon bars separated from the aluminum pivots. After the trips I sealed them all in place one by one and this solved this problem. You must be careful not to overtighten or overtighten the clip when disconnecting as you could lose the clip or you could start disassembling the connection. This season (3rd year of use) one bar linkage just gave up and got super wobbly and when it fell down the lower

Great value, performance of much more expensive options

I've clocked up a total of about 60 miles in 5 rides with these poles to date, so the judgment on durability has yet to be made and I will do update this review accordingly. However, based on my experience, I feel comfortable commenting on them. I was originally looking at Cascade snap-on carbon poles, but when I saw this new offering I bought them as I very much prefer the foldable design due to a deep-seated distrust of the snap-on system. While this may seem an irrational fear, I have fallen
