I think the inserts were developed because I thought one would do for a standard door and it probably is. But if you're hoping to go through a wall, you'll need at least 2 or even 3 depending on the thickness of the wall. I ran 2 doors through 2 different interior walls and each project required 2 extensions as well as lots of hardware and careful gluing.
