Contrary to other reviews, the alarm on this unit is quite loud when mounted on the outside of the unit. Even if it could be a little louder. I think my previous GE freezer with alarm was a little louder. (A louder unit will likely require heavier/bigger hardware, but I won't have a problem buying a unit this big as long as my fridge/freezer stays safe.)
