the package arrived safe and sound. However, the large mirror in the tube was not built in, it dangled in the tube and damaged the tube. The mirror is chipped and badly scratched - completely unusable. The supplier quickly sent an email in response to my claim and said they filed a claim with UPS and I need to hang up the package until UPS comes out and investigates. You will make a decision based on UPS's findings. As UPS and Focus Camera try to decide who is to blame, we've lost over $400…

A great first experience for beginners in astronomy!

I bought this vehicle to explore the sky. I consider myself an amateur astronomer, I love astrophotography but I also have a desire to learn and explore the night sky visually. I felt that this telescope with Starsense technology would help me the most. It would help me not only to study but also to share information as the application running on my phone has a lot of information about each object in its database (it contains the full Messier catalog as well as the Caldwell catalogue). On my…

Fantastic product! for telescopes

I ordered my telescope from Revain on February 5, 2020. It arrived in about a week as promised by Revain. The box was in perfect condition. So everything in the box. We live in Atlanta and have had 7 days of semi clear skies since yesterday. Not the best time to buy a telescope. But I digress. Assembling the tripod and telescope was pretty easy. Directions are good and easy to follow. After completing the setup, I proceeded to set up FinderScope. The instructions say to take the scope outside…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Some small things

We bought this telescope mainly for educational purposes. As part of John Dobson's Sidewalk Astronomy group, we're building a lot in the city where people live to expose those who never had the opportunity to do astronomy. When we adjust to urban and commercial lighting, it can often be very difficult to find deep sky objects. We needed a telescope with some smart features that was very portable and easy to set up and use. The assembly and setup of the StarSense Explorer DX 130AZ was very well…

"Holy shit! It works! "

"Damn! It works!" That was my reaction as I looked through the eyepiece at the Andromeda galaxy exactly in the center saw the eyepiece. I have to admit, when I saw this I was skeptical. I have advanced equipment and use digital dials on a powerful pusher mount with a large telescope for most of my observations. I have to say that I am absolutely thrilled. This package offers the same functionality as a digital setup but without the encoders, cables and control boxes. I wish Celestron would sell

Pros
  • Will do for many
Cons
  • Too long to wait

I have been observing the night sky with telescopes for 35 years, have almost 20 different telescopes and I have often been asked for advice by people looking to buy a beginner's telescope. When I heard about the new range of Celestron StarSense Explorer telescopes I was very intrigued and decided to buy one to try. Spending $399 on anything is way too expensive. Spending €399 on a telescope is relatively cheap compared to most telescopes on the market and is certainly in the price range of…
