Makes delicious coffee!

After getting fed up with the electric filter coffee maker, I looked for a coffee maker without a water tank or inner hoses that could harbor bacteria and/or mold. (To learn more, google "signs your coffee maker is making you nauseous”). I tried the bodum pour over but it didn't have enough capacity and I found it difficult to hold onto the thick collar. So I decided to try Chemex for 10 cups with a handle. What I love about Chemex is that it's big enough, looks good, easy to clean, super easy…

Great coffee *updated* but the glass is fragile.

First a little story about my coffee drinking. Black coffee maker Mr. I have been drinking coffee for 8-10 years. It does its job, but not EXCELLENT. Sometimes I'll grab a cup from work, which is awful and unfiltered, but does what it's supposed to: give me energy. I never buy from Starbucks or any other coffee shop, mainly because it's a waste of money in my opinion. Why should I pay a lot of money (and use gas) to get a cup? So I basically make my own coffee at home. I bought this because my…

Ideal for 750ml or less. Large pots require a lot of practice.

Chemex coffee is fantastic when you want a clean cup with crisp nuances, especially for light to medium roasts. Personally, I prefer the richer feel and flavor of a dip method like a French Press, a Smart Drip (my favorite), or an Aeropress. . However, in my experience, Chemex is terrible for large batch brewing. Brewing time depends on the size of the brew and using the standard coffee to water ratio of 60 grams per liter gives you 7-9 minutes compared to extracted brews when trying to brew…

Expensive but elegant.

Okay, Chemex Pot Reviews are pretty extensive, so I'll just put my two cents in your internal buying dialogue. I bought my Chemex about three weeks ago. and used it twice a day on average. I have a 10 cup model with a molded handle. The carafe says it holds about 50 ounces. This bothered me as I sometimes brew 64 ounce coffee for my wife and I using 16 ounce mugs. However, I found the Chemex to be large enough to hold 64 ounces despite filling the pot well past the intended fill line. The…

My Coffee Journey - Chemex: Delicious but a bit annoying

My favorite Braun coffee maker died and for the next few months I found myself on an unintended coffee journey. While I'm not a coffee snob - I'm willing to drink just about anything that bears the name - I buy fresh beans from a local roaster (Coffee Labs of Tarrytown) and grind them in a coffee grinder. And I drink it black, without sugar. Five coffee machines* later, that's my story. Chemex makes the best* coffee pot I have found. Not as flavorful as the AeroPress, but 42 ounces per infusion

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
