The best kitchen knife for all occasions

We have had several of these over the years. They are ideal for cleaning fruit, vegetables, small parts of all kinds. Comfortable to hold, the size is right, it is a pleasure to use. Don't be put off by the name "paring knife". We use them for everything. Fleet Farm used to sell this knife but now it's hard to find. I was very glad to find him at Revain. Try it!

Pros
  • is also clear for the elderly
Cons
  • piggy bank price

Not so old quality - bad wood on the handles

I need to sand down the rough wood on the handles on both knives I bought. It's tough enough that it's very uncomfortable to hold on to both, one side is much worse than the other. What good is a knife that you don't want to hold in your hands? The wood was also very dry, but can be easily fixed with cutting board oil. Not the same quality I've had for 20+ years that I still use.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Useless features

The quality drops

. The wooden handle dangled from one of them. We have an original complete set of Chicago cutlery knives from 12 years ago. Our paring knife broke and this is one of my favorites so I bought 2 more to replace. I prefer the original style with the curved handle and slightly different blade shape, but that was all that was available now. This is of significantly worse quality than the original.

Pros
  • Cool
Cons
  • I ordered 2 of them for the old

Best little knife for the price

These little knives are amazing and hardly need sharpening. They also last forever as long as you wash them and keep them dry due to the wooden handle. My mom had one forever until she lost it and had to buy a new one, but then she found it and 20 years later it still works great. Great for small fruits and veggies and even cheese. cleaning and grinding. They can penetrate some foods that other knives cannot. It's not too big, bulky and awkward to handle like some small knives.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Infinitely slow

Non-profiled handle

The description of the knife states that the handle is profiled. No, that is not so. At least not the ones I got. Each of the wooden corners along the length of the handle is an acute 90 degree angle. Luckily I can profile the handle at my shop for a comfortable grip. Pretty much had to destroy the packaging to get the knife out before realizing the handle wasn't finished. When ordering a knife, I recommend that you carefully inspect the handle before opening the packaging to determine whether…

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Expensive insurance

This knife is not the Chicago Culture quality I've enjoyed in the past

The handle of this knife is two square pieces of wood attached to the knife shaft. The handle edges are not ground or rounded like other 60+ CC knives I own. The edges of the wooden handle are almost as sharp as the blade. Wife refuses to use. The blade must be sharpened on a high feed milling machine. Tool marks on steel require a lot of force when polishing. That's what happens when you sell Chinese-made products and expect quality. Sad.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Concerns me

This is my new selection of paring knives

Not sure why it took me over 37 years to wonder if I could find another favorite utility knife but after a panicked search through silverware - and dish drawers, while trying to find my old favorite tucked in the wrong place I thought this would be a good idea. This knife is exactly the same as my old favorite knife which I took from home when I got married in 1980 and my mother took from home when she got married in 1960. This is my new knife and I'm looking forward to it. long-term cleaning…

Pros
  • Quick change
Cons
  • Almost never

Current knives don't cut

Chicago Cutlery Walnut Tradition 3" Slant Tip I've been using these Chicago Cutlery paring knives for over 20 years. I like them because they are well balanced, sharpen well and hold the edge just as well are like the more expensive ones I've tried. Twenty years of washing in the dishwasher has whitened the handles a bit, but other than that they feel great. Best paring knives I've found. Update April 2017: I originally bought these knives 5 Given stars because I've had such good results with…

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
