Excellent thermometer, especially for temperatures over 100 degrees

Works very well. I know this is a candy/frying thermometer but I bought it primarily for cheese making. What I didn't realize is that you can't clearly see temperatures below 100 degrees Fahrenheit. That wasn't a big deal as it's pretty easy to estimate temperatures below 100 degrees, but keep this in mind if you want to find exact temperatures below 100 degrees. use. Everything I've done with a thermometer to measure temperature has worked fine.

CIA thermometer? Bulletproof!

This is the most durable kitchen thermometer I have ever owned. After breaking or melting three different thermometers, I bought this one because it looked well made. After a few months of use, my wife and I are very happy with the durability and accuracy (at least when frying in the pan). We didn't use it to make candy. Pros: Sturdy (my 2 year old used it like a hammer without breaking it) Attractive (looks too good to put in a kitchen drawer) No batteries required Adjustable if recalibration…

Excellent product - thermometer and timer

Very well made, looks like a quality product. The temperature can be adjusted so that even if the reading drops off over time, a screw on the back is turned to recalibrate it for you. to press. The way the clamp attaches to the pole by pulling it into place makes the clamp loose and can't hold the pot well. This might not make sense until you've got a thermometer in your hands, but trust me when I say the clamp works great. Evaluation required (but only slightly more than traditional…

Good product despite weak clip

I have tried different thermometers and had problems because they were inaccurate. I needed a good candy thermometer and was impressed by the reviews. The coating for my caramelized corn came out perfectly. I found the calibration easy. When I made my caramels I had a problem - the clip didn't hold up and it all got mixed up. I rinsed it off, put it back in the pan and secured it with a clothespin. My caramels were amazing. If you spend time making candy, the calibration is worth the extra…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design

  • Something is wrong

The temperature is rising too slowly to be precise.

Bought to replace an old metal and glass Taylor thermometer when temperatures started to drop due to frequent cleaning. Bought a standard old school glass and broke before I could put it down. Decided to try this style because it was easier to clean. Big mistake. The temperature does eventually show accurately, but there is a large lag before the temperature registers correctly on the dial. You can observe the jump in temperature instead of moving gradually, so the delay is at least 5 degrees…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Looks pretty accurate and the price is right

This little thermometer is designed for making candy and frying. I picked one up because my large candy thermometer is about a foot long and is awkward to use in a small saucepan. The materials and build quality seem to be pretty good. The stainless steel rod can be covered with a plastic storage tube. On the outside of the tube are temperature translations in Fahrenheit and Celsius for vague terms like "soft ball" and "hard crack". Very handy because there really is no universally accepted…
