Description of Cisco Aironet 1815I-B-K9C: Controllerless Wi-Fi Access Point with 802.11ac Wave 2 Technology and Internal Antenna

DUAL RADIO 802.11AC WAVE 2 ACCESS POINT WITH MULTI-USER MIMO: Improved client experience with increased capacity and reliability enabled by simultaneous transmission of data to multiple clients at a time. INTEGRATED BLUETOOTH 4.1: Integrated Bluetooth low-energy (BLE) 4.1 radio for location and asset tracking. RADIO RESOURCE MANAGEMENT: Cisco Radio Resource Management (RRM) allows Cisco's Unified WLAN Architecture to continuously analyze the existing RF environments, automatically adjusting each APs' power and channel configurations to help mitigate such things as co-channel interference and signal coverage problems. RRM reduces the need to perform exhaustive site surveys, increases system capacity, and provides automated self-healing functionality to compensate for RF dead zones and AP failures. SECURITY: Securing the Device: Cisco Umbrella (OpenDNS), Identity PSK (iPSK), IP and DNS ACLs. Securing the Air: Spectrum Intelligence, Wireless Intrusion Detection (wIDS). Securing the Network: 802.1x on AP, AAA profiling and policy. PEACE OF MIND: Limited lifetime hardware warranty.

Unreliable Connection for Computers

This wireless access point consistently drops connections with computers, resulting in frustrating interruptions in work flow. The sleek design is a nice feature, but unfortunately doesn't make up for the lack of stability in connectivity.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Unreliable connectivity with computers

The 5G band is useless. I'll try to see the European model.

My house is made of bricks. The 5G band is useless. I'll try the European model to see if it's better. On 2.4g I have speeds up to 150Mbps so not bad.

Pros
  • PEACE: Limited Lifetime Hardware Warranty
Cons

they work well in a big house

I have installed three of these in a large house and the coverage and speed are excellent. Roaming from one access point to another works without any problems. The installation process requires the use of a serial console port, although no console cable is included (however, any Cisco console cable will work). You need a POE switch or POE injector (standard POE injectors are fine) as they don't come with injectors and don't support external power supplies. AirOS software. As expected, I needed…

Pros
  • SECURITY: Device Security: Cisco Umbrella (OpenDNS), Identity PSK (iPSK), IP and DNS ACL. Air Defense: Spectrum Analysis, Wireless Intrusion Detection (wIDS). Network Security: 802.1x on AP, profiling and policy AAA
Cons
  • Requires socket
