Cable modem to modems

This is a great Macintosh product: absolutely perfect plug and play! You take it out of the box, connect it via Ethernet and you're done. Unless you're a total beginner, RTFM isn't necessary, although for a Mac user the entire guide is a few images. Even for a Mac user, this is a pretty good example of industrial design. It is ideal for use with the Apple AirPort SOHO/home network system. Also, for a Windows user (trying to become one) the packaging shows a Windows flag over the words "Designed

Pros
  • USB or Ethernet connection

  • Not bad, but...

Very Happy: Computers and Accessories

Replaced a modem I had rented from Comcast for the past 5 years after my Linksys router, model BEFSR41, had failed after the same time. During this time, the system worked well, although towards the end I did notice a decrease in speed. Apparently this was caused by a router that ended up failing completely. I analyzed this by removing the router from the system. To restore the system as quickly as possible, I went to Best Buy and got into a router sale. I then ordered a Linksys model BEFCMU10โ€ฆ

Cable modem OK, sometimes blocked

I'm a big fan of Linksys products. They were always very responsive and got their job done. However, I have to say that this is my least favorite Linksys product. I bought this because I thought it would look good with my router, switch, and Linksys wireless access point. Overall it works relatively well. However, I encountered problems in some situations. When running connection-intensive applications that open many connections, the modem tends to freeze. Cyclic Power seems to fix this. I'veโ€ฆ

Works perfectly! Just don't let the light fool you

This is a great little modem. I connected via the ethernet port so I didn't have any OS compatibility issues, this only applies to a USB connection. My provider is ATTBI. Initially, the cable light didn't stay nailed down like it did with my rented RCA modem. According to the instructions, the cable indicator shows the presence of a connection between the modem and the Internet. When you're not sending or receiving data, the cable light flashes about every 20 seconds. This indicated to theโ€ฆ

  • Always-on connection; no more busy signals or timeouts
Cons
  • Not as bold as other options

GOOD PRODUCT! for modems

I have an RCA cable modem with RCN as ISP. Excellent service which I highly recommend. To set up a wireless network at home, I bought a Linksys G router after buying an HP laptop. Everything worked fine for me, but then I started having frequent drops in bandwidth and persistent connectivity issues with other computers on my network. I mistakenly thought it was the router. Fool that I was! After countless attempts to restart the modem, WPA keys, etc., I finally found out that the modem cannotโ€ฆ
