Precise, cheap, great service

I work on a hand mill and hobby lathe, this indicator was purchased for hobby and light commercial use. Additional mounting hardware and instruction manual. This indicator and the Bases were great Accuracy seems to match all my other measuring tools (elbow, micrometer, feedrate indicator, etc.) to within 0.001". Runs smoothly, does not freeze, responds relatively quickly to manual runout testing. The battery has lasted more than a year without replacement. A minus is that the turn signal turns…

Pros
  • Measuring range: 0-1"/25.4 mm; Graduation: 0.0005"/0.01 mm; Accuracy: ±0.001"/0.03 mm
Cons
  • Price for a piggy bank

Gauge Measurement Creeps

Unfortunately it didn't work for me. I bought it to measure disc brake and hub runout but the dial indicator seems to have some issues. First, the zero button on the gauge requires enough pressure to make setting and resetting almost impossible, as simply touching the gauge will set the pointer in motion, thus slamming the zero down. After some practice I was able to zero it well enough by compensating with my other hand and getting it close enough to end up with a zero reading. Unfortunately…

Pros
  • 2 Magnetic Surfaces Available; Maximum pull force 176 lbs (requires metal/steel 30mm and thicker); The magnet works much better on thicker metal, thin metal/steel gives less magnetic force
Cons
  • I will add later

Works as intended and that's it.

When I first received the dial I was a bit hesitant. It was just a digital dial gauge. I chose digital because it's easier to read than analog. And I was happy to get one that came with a stand too. First let me say that the stand is very well made. When I unboxed it, I wondered why it only had one locking knob, since my counterpart has one in each hinge. Well, this one only has one knob, and when you tighten it into place, it tightens three hinges securely and tightly. Set up the watch face…

Pros
  • Readout function in inches and metric units; Extra Large LCD Screen: 1.6" x 0.7"; Auto shut off after 5-7 minutes (remember the last reading when you turn it back on)
Cons
  • Out of fashion
