Description of πͺ΅ CMT 852 502 11 Planer: 2 Inch Diameter for Precision Woodworking
3/8-Inch Cutting Length, 2-1/4-Inch Overall Length. Great for mortising in in both natural wood and wood composites. Constructed with thick carbide tips and downward shear angle design for flawless performance. No splintered edges or rough bottoms, fits the most popular mortising jigs. 2 Hi-Density carbide-tipped cutting edges for long-lasting performance on wood.
I use this planer in my homemade slide for the milling machine. It chews up to 1/4 inch mahogany with ease and remains a splinter after about 3 hours of continuous use.
CMT seems to have a lot of cutters on Amazon with inaccurate or non-specific imaged items. I bought this racquet and it doesn't have a bearing like the one in the picture above. Otherwise a good item, it even comes with a tiny guide detailing how the bit should be inserted into the collet and what speeds are appropriate for use.
Pros
High score for support and durability from testers
I was milling a rabbit in 2" wood and came across a stainless steel screw that I wasn't aware of. Screw as if it were a piece of wood. I thought the bit was broken but I checked it and it looked ok. Since this was the only size I had and I wanted to finish the job I used the multi tool to remove the screw and proceeded. The tip finished the job by releasing an elegant rabbit. I couldn't believe it.
