The screen fogged up the first time, was splashed with water and completely hung up about an hour later. I bought it for a week long trip, got wet the first day and spent the whole time without a walkie talkie. Received a month early to make sure I had it and it worked and now the return window is less than a week away. I'll see if I can get warranty service for it but am very dissatisfied at the moment. If you buy one, put it under water to test it before taking it on a boat.

Bought for work. My employer supplies crappy radios and I decided to bite the bullet and buy my own. It was one of the cheapest models with multiple features, which is why I chose it. After two days of work, the antenna cover fell off. I didn't drop it. I didn't do anything unusual and wanted to get it off the table and the lid just fell off. Looks like they used Elmer's glue. For almost a hundred dollars you expect quality and honesty and I don't see that. Very disappointed

Seems to be a good product despite some negative reviews. Worked fine for 1 day. On the second day a few problems with the transfer. A week later the reception was so garbled that one could not understand the reception on the communication channels. The Wx channels seemed fine. Next time I wasn't able to reach the harbor master from about 100 feet from his boat to several hundred yards. The same applies to startup services. The speaker is only read half the time. I will probably return this product. On my first trip with a radio, I made every effort to have the radio strapped to a life jacket or wetsuit. I threaded the strap through the life jacket buckle, that was the only thing holding it to me as I hit the wave and the surf rode home. Cobra still hasn't fixed the battery indicator problem that appeared at least in 2015. My 2018 model's Li-Ion battery showed a full charge right out of the box but died less than an hour during installation and took 5 hours to fully charge so it wasn't fully charged as listed. Please note that it is designed to float and has some sort of 'automatic speaker cleaning' feature which is meant to 'remove' water from the speaker. after diving, although it sounds pretty useless. Very compact radio, small and fits very well in a bag or small basket/storage. The radio uses three rechargeable AAA batteries. On the radio, the characteristics are good. The speaker is good as the radio controls are loud and clear. I tested the microphone with the VHF installed and the sounds from the microphone were loud and clear. Overall a good backup radio.
