After connecting a Bluetooth microphone, there is no way to disable automatic voice activation. If you lower the sensitivity, it will be set to not transmit even if you press the button. I bought these to use as a discreet way to communicate with my co-photographer at weddings and for that they are complete crap. They have loud beeps enabled by default and god help you if you accidentally hit the call button. I returned both sets I bought.

Cobra just has a terrible customer service policy

Rubbish don't get me wrong they look decent and I liked the fact that they came with rechargeable batteries and a base but a radio worked simply lost his mic sound and was only good on transmit and not receive. I called Cobra to try and get them to respect their product and not only did I have to pay for shipping they said it would take weeks to replace. Buying this radio taught me two things: Revain provides great customer service and gave me my money back, but Cobra products are only as good…

Bluetooth doesn't work very well

I bought these devices because of the Bluetooth capability. Unfortunately, every Bluetooth device I've tried it with has given poor results. There was a noticeable lag, and mostly the first few words were cut off at every VOX sensitivity setting I tried. There are other UI annoyances that make them uncomfortable to work with. Of course, unless you're over a body of water, the range is nowhere near the 28 or 32 miles they claim. The Cobra package says 32 miles and that's just dishonest…

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Almost never

I bought these radios to use my Bluetooth headphones while cycling with my wife. Vain. Customer support informed me that the only Bluetooth devices that work with these radios are one of three full headsets: Plantronics Voyager V5200 or M165 or Jabra Supreme. (The manual says you can find a list of compatible Bluetooth devices on the Cobra website, but there is no such information on the site.) I'm very disappointed that Cobra doesn't allow you to connect more Bluetooth headphones. Really…

Bluetooth issues - design issue etc.

I was able to easily pair these HTs with a fairly obscure Bluetooth headset. that was nice. The problem is that when a Bluetooth device is paired, the device seems to force you into VOX mode. PTT also works, but you cannot disable VOX mode. Now you might be thinking that you can just turn the VOX gain down so it never triggers, and that's true. The problem is that the VOX sensitivity (iVOX in Bluetooth mode) ALSO changes the transmitted volume. So if you set the sensitivity to low, your…

Does not work with Bluetooth headphones

I bought these to use with my existing Bluetooth headphones. And while they connected correctly, they often disconnected, and the VOX function was pretty unreliable. If it was possible to use PTT button instead of VOX with Bluetooth devices, maybe it would be better. I couldn't get them to pair with my wife's bluetooth hearing aids - that was the main reason for the purchase. (We worked in an area that required two way radios and a headset. Traditional headsets didn't work for them due to their

What a joke for adults

This product is ideal for children playing in the backyard as long as they are less than a block apart. Claimed range up to 32 miles. I was on channel 10/21, which is the "high" channel. In one block the signal was acceptable. There was noise in 1.5 blocks, but it could be used. There was just a bit of hissing in 2 blocks with no vocals. How can a company get away with such a blatant lie as up to 32 miles? It must be 32 miles on the moon. If they are lying maybe a range of up to 1 mile would be

Great performance but a bit cheaply built

Bought and used at a 400 Acre Faire. Never had a problem at low power, even from opposite angles (about 1 mile). We used a non-low power channel (8-14 at 0.5W) channels. The menus are a bit clunky, requiring repeated button presses to get to certain areas. I think most people complaining about limited range can use channels 8-14, but I haven't used them for really long distances. With my knowledge from ham radio, these things are grossly overrated from afar, but some of the complaints are…
