I was trying to clear a 1.5" drain. It hasn't expanded at all. The hole needs to be much smaller so it can fill with water, widen to close the drain and push out the clog. I don't know how it got such good reviews.

It worked for us. Make sure there are two of you when using this. If it's not far enough down the drain pipe, it'll pop back out and squirt your hose around the kitchen until you can crimp it or get to the valve to shut it off. Lesson learned. Inexpensive solution for stubborn constipation.
