Quality glass carafe poured over the coffee maker arrived safely. Artistically designed, this is a smaller version of the original carafe. This is an interesting way to make coffee. large square pre-pleated filters fit this small coffee maker. Folded in half, made for a smaller Chemex carafe, not for this.

I've used it for draft coffee a few times. I use a water tank to heat the water to the recommended temperature. So far I am satisfied with this carafe. They warn against placing the carafe on a hot surface. Because it's made of borosilicate glass, it has to withstand moderate heat to keep the coffee warm. I'm not sure if you can put it on a hot plate.

That's all good. I've been using it for several months. At first I was disappointed that the cheap coffee filters I buy at Trader Joe's didn't work for him; along the seams, not reinforced from below, fine soil passed. But then I realized that two filters, one inside the other, with seams on opposite sides, work just fine. Trader Joe filters cost about a cent each, while Chemex filters cost about ten cents each.

I was hoping this coffee maker would save me a few bucks making my own coffee. However, I was only able to use it three times before it broke, making Starbucks more economical. It broke while washing. Mind you, it wasn't right after I made my coffee. I waited for the jar to cool (it was about 8 hours later). It's not very strong and I think you'd better buy something with stronger glass. Be sure to look elsewhere.

I love Mixpresso. This takes some getting used to as the brewing process is a bit unique, especially if you're used to using a regular drip machine. I didn't manage to wet the filter the first time and as expected the ground coffee filter started sliding down the cone when pouring the water. I noticed it in time and reinstalled it, but that's not a mistake I'm going to make. again. You must moisten the filter before pouring coffee. I also just ordered a gooseneck electric pan. This is an AMAZING little pourover! Got it in the mail today and I'm already in love. A Few Notes: Keep in mind that this frosting makes three VOLUME cups. not three cups of coffee. It's basically a big cup of coffee. Other reviewers claimed that the ones they received were made out of plastic. Either they are wrong or we received different products which I doubt. I was so excited about this carafe but very soon it became a disappointment 1) This carafe is very small. What is misleading is the size of the cone. Based on the expected size of the cone, the decanter can be expected to be at least 50% larger. But then you realize that not only the carafe is small, but also the cone is small. So filter #4 is too big for this decanter. 2) No proper airflow. So there is no perforation in the cone itself that would help vent trapped air from below. In theory…

I used a French Press before buying one for my coffee and it's amazing how much more flavor you can get out of a Chemex. In general it works great. Good quality glass. It doesn't stain and I've made coffee in it a few times a day for the week I've had it. I also once crashed into the edge of a closet pretty hard expecting disaster - to my surprise this thing is quite resilient. I expected more, but that's a mistake on my part. He makes two cups quite well and that's enough for me, so it worked.
