Description of 10-Inch Round Center Finder Compass Clear Acrylic Tool for Precise Circle Drawing, Lathe Work, and Woodturners. Perfect for Locating Centers on Logs and Various Stock Pieces, Suitable for Round and Square Stocks.

If you have ever tried to use a standard compass to draw a circle on irregularly shaped or rough items then you know your results can be mixed at best. Trying to keep the compass centered while making a clearly marked circle can be tough in this situation. The Round, Clear Acrylic Center Finder/Compass solves this issue by providing a clear view of what you are doing and drawing holes with corresponding, clear index marks for drawing circles. The clear round design of the center finder/compass allows you to see exactly what you are doing and assists you with quick, easy placement. Once you locate the spot that you want to center your circle from, use a push pin or brad nail in the center hole of the center finder/compass to hold it in place. Choose the diameter circle you would like to mark, then using a fine pointed pencil or scoring tool to mark your circle. The black markings are appear clearly on lighter colored surfaces and line up with a different size diameter holes in 1/2” increments. You can layout and draw circles from 1” to 10” in diameter. Making this ideal for wood turners, arts, crafts, school projects, rough and finish carpenters or use it anywhere you need to draw a circle. It makes layout and finding the center on many types of objects easy and truly simplified. Works on wood, poster board, plastic, metal, glass, composites and more!. It also doubles as a center finder that works exceptionally well on irregularly shaped items like wooden logs. When laying out a circle on a log one of the toughest things to do is to find the center or cut just the right amount of wood off to create a “perfect circle”. The center finder/compass helps with this by allowing you to lay the disc on to the log and easily identify the largest circle possible on the log. This also helps produce maximum yield on logs smaller than 10” in diameter. Made from clear, fully transparent acrylic, the center finder/compass is perfect for many different shop, job site or around the home applications. Wherever you need a circle drawn or need to find center on irregularly shaped items this center finder/compass is the tool to reach for.

Works better than expected

I have a compass and it works for most things. It's much faster for rounding corners. But where it really shines is when used on almost round objects. Suppose you have a magazine and you need to rotate it. It's really nice to just put it on and see where the circle is. I actually use it more than I thought I would.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Rough

Perfect for a wood turner.

I bought this to use as a wood turning center. It does that very well and I also find additional uses, for example I also use it as a compass for other woodwork. The unit performs well even under heavy use and doesn't suffer from the user's tendency to just leave it on the workbench. Well made, easy to use and functional.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Clarity

Easy to use, clear. I wish the holes were a little bigger. A dull pencil won't fit through tiny holes to draw a circle, if that's an indication of how small the holes are. The hole in the middle is perfect. I use it to mark wooden blanks for turning. I've waxed many blanks and use a felt-tip pen, so a felt-tip pen doesn't work either. But still it's easier than the compass I used.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Socket required

Circular Center Finder Imperial

This Center Finder meets my expectations. Finding the best center point for an irregular shape like a small tree trunk is difficult, and this neat finder makes it very easy to determine the best center point by looking at the important details of the workpiece. No other inch probe finder offers the compass function, circle sign function, or more accurate measurements that most metric probe finders offer. Specify these features to get 5 stars.

Pros
  • Great Construction
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging
