Large Potato Masher

We started cooking more at home and mashing with forks. I bought it for my wife (against her objections that we don't really need it) and myself and now it's a must have. Works perfectly. Good price.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Thin

My husband's favorite kitchen knife

My husband loves this knife. He doesn't like using a chef's knife when we're cooking like me, so he uses this knife to chop everything from garlic and onions to chicken and pork. Personally I was impressed with how well it cut the meat and was very comfortable to hold.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions

Broke on first use Cats 1, Cooking Hammer 0.

Fragile plastic broke like a dried wishbone Just below the handle broke right in my youngest daughter's hand while cooking Christmas dinner. Maybe I should have known the name - Cooking Light. It might have worked for those gritty, powdered mashed potatoes, but it wasn't the original.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Complete scrap - broke after first use and then again after repair

It says durable but broke where the handle connects to the pusher. I just mashed up small golden potatoes. I glued it on with super glue, let's see how long it lasts. Update: Tried using it after gluing it back together. He broke right away. I threw it away and bought an all metal slider.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Reliability

Not very strong for corkscrews and bottle openers

We like the collapsible grater as it's much easier to put away after use - crate graters take up a lot of space and we only use big/small holes for cheese anyway. Anyway, after maybe 7 or 8 uses, a few trips in the dishwasher, and today I've been grating and "clicking" mozzarella! Cracked plastic in the middle of the grater! We don't grate super hard cheeses like Parmesan on it, so the strength I used was "medium" at best, but unfortunately this grater didn't do the job. Back to looking for…

Not very strong, suitable for bar and wine tools

This isn't the one you want.

Weak. Not a solid construction. I have a feeling they might break off if I press on the handles too hard. The piece in the sleeve detaches from the neck of the bottle. Not a deal breaker, just annoying. The top screw doesn't go deep enough into the cork initially, so you'll have to pull the cork out halfway and then screw it back in to get the rest of the cork out. In general, it works, but with difficulties. If you mean different, choose different. If you're thinking of buying this, do a…
