Great upgrade to increase RAM on older PCs

I was a bit apprehensive about installing Windows 10 on a PC with only 4GB. Although it took a long time to get the storage compared to Prime's usual shipping time, we were glad the PC accepted it and showed the 20GB installed. Windows 10 installed without any problems and the memory upgrade improved system performance.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Functionality

AMD users beware - the clock runs at 1333/667MHz unless XMP is used

As an AMD user I had to tweak this RAM a bit to run at advertised speeds and latencies . Without XMP enabled, DDR3-1333/667MHz speeds are used by default, so Corsair's display is a bit misleading, or at least missing some pretty important details. CPU-Z and my motherboard register RAM as PC3-10700, not PC3-12800 (see attached image). I've used another brand of DDR3-1600 memory in the past with no issues, so I'm pretty sure it's not a limitation of my motherboard or CPU (both are DDR3-1600…

Doesn't work at 1600

When I decided to buy such expensive memory, my decision was based on my previous experience with Corsair DDR3 memory. I had 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1867 memory with 9-10-9-27-2N 1.5V timings in my Corsair system and it ran great at this high frequency for the last 6 years , but due to this task I have As I need more RAM I decided to upgrade to this Corsair 32GB DDR3-1600 (4x8GB) 9-9-9-24 1.5V. Based on CPU-Z this memory was produced in the 15th week of 2013, but I bought it in 2018! Why didn't I…

Excellent and stable quad-channel memory.

Very stable, good for overclocking, hence the name Corsair Vengeance Pro. Memory modules are designed to work with Intel Core. I got the memory working on an old AMD 8530FX/Gigabyte 990FXAUD3 that was pulled out of the closet. The motherboard supports XMP, but the memory was not stable when XMP was enabled on this MB. So I disabled XMP and manually changed the system memory multiplication to 8. Changed memory channel A and B from Auto to 9-9-9-24. After that, the system worked stably. The heat…

Great brand, great quality

I had an i7-4790K processor for a while that was in an old ASUS MB. I had a chance to snag an old but still new Gigabyte z97x gaming motherboard in a box and I wanted new memory. I've been using Corsair Vengeance Pro and Corsair Dominator memory for years and have never had a problem with it. My builds are for gaming and that memory works great with that MB and that CPU. Almost any computer that requires DDR3 1600 memory will do well.

  • Certified
Cons
  • I don't have much to complain about, everything is fine

Bought to maximize mobo.

Having only 16GB of memory was like having a piece of hot stuff between your teeth. I bought these to get the most out of the motherboard, which is the first thing I should have done when building this machine. I no longer accelerate. I'm tired of playing around and squeezing out every ounce of PS. This memory easily handles Skyrim and Farcry 5. Running the i-5 4690K with a GTX 970, everything is set for an ASRock Z97 Extreme 6.

Pros
  • Brilliantly done
Cons
  • Will do
