SPD? APARTMENTS? Why not both!

I mostly used Shimano SPDs but I also had flat tires. I finally found the pedal of my dreams. I love how I can just start pedaling after a touch or when I come off the technical incline. Don't look for the middle ground, just flat pedal until the sound is soft, then click. In any case, it snaps halfway into place. You don't have to worry about the pedals bouncing on uneven descents like on level ground. However, I recommend zero float spikes. Release was almost as easy as my XT SPDs before the…

  • Unbelievable price

Solid and easy-to-use quality construction

Enjoying the pedals so far. The feeling of power these pedals generate. Getting in and out is very easy. Apartment service is perfect for me since I come from apartments. The flat pedal provides extra comfort when needed when I have issues with engagement (rare). The first time I climbed it, I fell more than 5 times in 5 minutes. I just couldn't cut off a leg. Unfortunately, it was my own fault for not securing the cleat hex bolts to allow the cleat to move over the shoe. Using Shimano am45…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons

Great for enduro or trail

My son has these on his bike. They have a good platform and get involved easily. It's not easy for him to get out quickly. To make it easier to loosen, I had to screw in all the lag bolts almost flush with the pedal body, since contact with the sole of the shoe prevented rotation. That eliminates the glitches, but the trip voltage is still pretty strong and not adjustable. Check the pad/pedal interface for play. I thought about getting them too until I saw the problems described above (we have…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Good but not great

Great pedal at an affordable price

This is my fourth set of Crankbrothers pedals. I really like this pedal because it is well made and lasts a long time. They're a little heavy compared to smaller ones like mallets, but the extra pedal surface and the ability to use these pedals with regular shoes make them appealing to me. I've been using cleats in my shoes for over 15 years and absolutely love them, but sometimes I forget to pack my cycling shoes before mountain biking, so it's nice to know I can still ride my bike safely and…

Perfect for fat bikes, a little slower for cross country.

I'm looking at the Mallet E (Enduro) version. These pedals don't clog up with snow and mud and have a large grippy platform alongside a snap-in mechanism. This means that they are made specifically for fat bikes. The large platform makes it a bit difficult to buckle up, so they're not suitable for cross-country riders or anyone who needs to buckle up quickly. The platform doesn't seem to interfere with disembarking. On a fat bike, attachment speed isn't usually that important, but a good…

Great job my Jeffsy!

This is my first attempt at clipless pedals, so please take my opinion into account. I use these on a 2020 YT Jeffsy for mountain biking with Giro shoes. So far, so good! I like that I can choose a 15 or 20 degree release angle by switching cleats between shoes, and I can get a 10 degree release angle when needed. I set them at an angle of 15 degrees. I've been riding them on quite a few trails for a few days and have only crashed once so far. I really feel like I have more control over my bike

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • The list will be long.
