Fake Belgian Waffle Iron

Call me a waffle iron snob, but this iron doesn't make waffles anywhere near like real Belgian waffles. Don't believe me, search the internet for "real Belgian waffle thickness". You'll find that the true standard of Belgian waffles is 1.5 inches thick. See my photos. This allows a good quality batter to rise to create a nice fluffy waffle with more surface area and a strong structure that will support any toppings you put on top. Don't squeak! in small appliances

I had a Waring Pro waffle iron for about 10 years. Loved it it was perfect. But in the end it broke. I bought a Cuisinart square waffle maker (which recently replaced Waring). Eh Not exactly the same. The texture was different on the square version. Maybe the outside area is too big. Came back and stumbled across this Cuisinart Round Waffle Maker (WAF-F10). consistent results, good for waffle irons

I only use spray oil on the first waffle. I don't use non-stick spray, just plain oil. The waffles are very stable, no surprises. Different settings and tests produce different results, but these results are the same for that setting/test. I use cupcake recipes with an additional 1/2 cup of milk and it works great. I use the 3/4 cup that comes with the kit and not once did the batter come out. I wish it had a beep, but oh well. I'm not a fan of waffles so I was surprised that even the "crispy"…
