I just started using this machine. After solving some cryptic installation issues not addressed in the startup instructions, it seems to provide the extra coverage I was looking for, although I could only find one place in my house where it worked. Also, this product appears to be sold primarily to Canadian customers. For example, the phone number for technical support is 800, which doesn't work from the US, and no alternate number is provided. To get technical support, you must request it via…

It has to be sourced, but think about it.

To be honest this is a great product, it really helps and does what it says on the tin but I think it's limited. I plugged it into the wall and the ethernet cable goes to the Apple TV. At first it was a perfect connection, reliable and without any problems, but now that I've had the product for two weeks and accidentally lose the connection, I can't use my Apple TV. My internet app shows it's a perfect signal and D-Link is connected; Even the Apple TV shows that it gets full power over the…

Good size, decent performance when plugged in, but.

I was so excited to get this device to extend the range of my WiFi signals. It was easy to set up and I was ready to go. The green light came on and the signal indicators showed strong signals from the main router. But every now and then I noticed that the device broke the connection to my router (also DLink, by the way). The local extended WiFi signal was still there and I was still able to connect to this device, but the connection between this extender and the main router was lost. The…

Very easy to set up for computers and accessories

Much better than the old AP I used. This is hardwired into my network and forwarded to the part of the house where the 5GHz and even the 2.4GHz signal from the main router is low. It's very easy to set up and even updates the firmware automatically instead of digging through the manufacturer's website hoping you pick the right version so you don't screw it up. Great feature they added!

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Not trendy

I have a D-Link DIR-820L router that I bought from Revain about a year ago. I live in an apartment building with plastered/turned walls and get terrible WiFi reception when I'm more than 1 wall away from my router until I plug in this range extender. I bought a D-Link AC1200 wireless range extender. , took it out of the box, plugged it in, pressed the WPS button on my D-Link router and the WPS button on the D-Link repeater. That's all I had to do other than enter the password for my two…

A solid performance - two days or even several weeks!

Easy installation. Works well for AC and N. A signal strength indicator is useful. The web interface is reasonable. The connection is stable, unlike my experience with a similar Netgear device. (This review is for the DAP-1620.) Update: After two days of flawless operation, the device failed. After the reset, the web interface could not be connected to attempt a reconfiguration. Exchange it for another believing it is a quality control issue and not a fundamental design.

  • Beautiful packaging

Not the D-Link quality I remember

Setup is pretty easy - I set it up with a brand new D-Link router so that's how it should be right? There was strong 2.4 and 5.0 signals right where I wanted and in the perfect spot with a strong connection to the router. Then it fell out. Multiple times. In the middle of Wi-Fi calls. Sometimes the red light came on and EXT SSIDs were available. Sometimes the green bars were lit and the EXT SSID was not available. On top of that, it prevented me from connecting directly to my router when I was…

Easy setup in networking products

Easy setup. However, I'm trying to get it back because of the WiFi signal. I've tried several spots around the house. 2 green bars, there was no better signal than a router. 3 green bars and it looks like my router has a low signal strength, the AC1200 has a good signal but I didn't get the extended coverage I was hoping for. From my experience I'd say if walls are your problem they still might be and if you're looking to buy a D-Link AC1200 to project your signal, don't buy it. If you want a…

Works well, although it restarts periodically.

I'm using it as an ethernet bridge for a desktop computer, I haven't particularly checked the repeater capabilities. In general it works well with good speeds. However, there are two problems I've encountered. Firstly, you cannot disable the repeater feature when using it as a bridge. Second, it restarts about once a week and is offline for about a minute. Overall not bad for the price.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • You could choose a newer model
