I'm used to more expensive quilts that actually heal themselves. This one is much tougher and the cuts don't seem to heal on their own like with more expensive carpets. It's much stiffer than more expensive mats. Suitable for protecting a small work area and cutting heavier materials.

Arrived in clear easy open packaging, matched the product as advertised and withstood the immediate punishment I inflicted on it without batting an eyelid. This is my second Dahle cutting mat and I am very happy so far. I have some tips for you if this is your new cutting mat1. Keep it clean when you use it. Nice that CM is included on opposite edges. The part I don't really like is that this one lags a bit compared to Alvin's brand. This brand is only self-healing on one side, unlike Alvin which is double-sided and colored. When I checked for a very light scratch on each side with an X-Acto knife, the scaly side healed well, but a light scratch appeared on the back afterward.
