DB Electrical SHI0116 Starter for Chevrolet GMC Diesel Trucks Duramax Silverado Express C5500 Topkick 2001-2017 Review

I read reviews of this part from fleet owners and decided to give it a try. The one I bought has been in my truck for 6 years now and works great. The main danger is to take care of your batteries because if the battery dies it will ruin your starter.

I was a bit apprehensive about buying this starter because of the cost and reviews. But I'm definitely glad I did it. I've been using it for several months and it has worked flawlessly every time. My local dealer wanted $450 for the starter and all my local parts stores wanted over $250. I highly recommend it.

I had the starter on a 07 GMC Sierra 2500 6.6 diesel for a few weeks and it works perfectly, starts right away but have concluded that one of my 2 batteries was just plain weak but still for the price the starter there is no complaint, will give up if or if the starter has problems but so far so good and looks brand new

I bought this starter on 01/25/2017 and since 04/10/2017 it has stopped working. The price is cheap because the product is cheap. Don't waste your money, buy a branded starter. DB Electrical does not even cover the manufacturer's warranty. Luckily, Revain has great customer service and got my order back.

Review Updated - Purchased 3/2018 Purchased several DB Electrical starters over the years. Always lucky. It's October 2021 and it just needed replacing so we've had multiple launches every day for 3 1/2 years. The service life is better than discount car dealerships.

The first starter I got was bad when I touched the negative battery terminal the engine started without a key. sent back. The second starter did the same after just a few starts. Now I have to pay shipping and wait. This truck didn't move. This is Durmax. I do injectors and CP3. I would not buy this AGAIN! I'm not sending them back either. Shipping was too expensive. Beware.

I don't know which god will help me start the engine now, but thank God! The factory starter failed and decided it would run if it wanted to. I bought this for a 2003 Chevy Silverado with Duramax. It arrived on time, fit well and worked great for two weeks until the solenoid failed. I knew I was taking a risk buying cheap parts so I'm not really surprised or even disappointed, just consider this: to replace the starter motor with a Duramax you need to remove the fender skirt and disconnect the exhaust pipe. The product looked and matched the factory starter to T and is still providing excellent service many years later. Don't let the price fool you, it's half the factory price.
