Screw cap does not sit flush after installation

looks good and feels solid. The only problem I have with this product is the screw cap. Once the headset is tightened, the smaller cap will not sit flush with the top cap due to the pressure. I came across this article after my old screw head was removed and I ended up just using the new screw with my original top cap which was a bummer. A few design changes and it will be their best product.

Looks good but the top cap is a problem.

I thought I'd like this. I mean it looks nice but once you put the screw cap on it's impossible to take it off. They provided tape spacers to be used to remove the top cover, but they didn't work. Tried to use Gorilla Ribbon and that failed too. I had no choice but to use a screwdriver and ruin the cover in the process. The idea of the product is good, but the design should be done in such a way that the top cover can be easily removed.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!

  • Some flaws

Design Protects hex head from sweat/rust

I chose this headset top for one main reason: I sweat a lot. I am optimistic that by replacing the factory original with this stainless steel upgrade I can avoid future corrosion. I lubricate the head of the bolt with grease and close it with a decorative cap. I was glad I couldn't remove the cover with my fingernail so it wouldn't pop out easily. I had to use a piece of tape to lift it up to work (adjust) the headset.

Good looking but questionable fit

Well installed but rubber cap not flush with shaft. I pry it out with my fingernail fairly easily, so I'm a little concerned it will fall off when I ship the 20ft gaps this spring. OK. It's Faeces del Toro, but I'm still riding crappy East Coast granite that puts rattling bumps and vibrations on all my gear. I'll see what the manufacturers say, but I may need to heat treat the gasket before installing it, or maybe a new shorter bolt. No idea. and I like the look, almost blends in with the…

Small sport nod

Exactly what I expected, the only downside I would say is that you can't access the top bold, here's my solution to that, You take a little and install it on the other side of the bolt and clamp the top cover between the nut and bolt. I usually prefer to have extra headset padding on my stem. Before installing the small cap, preload the headset and they snap onto the stem. Screws, now loosen the top cap to make it a little tighter and adjust the small cap to the desired position. Now if you…

Amazing quality - perfect fit

Just arrived and ready to wear. The quality seems amazing. I don't know if it scratches easily or not, but I love the little flair it adds to the bike. And to anyone complaining about the cover and its removal. (rolls eyes) Yeah, the tape they give you doesn't work. However, if you have a 3m Stinger Tape lying around, it comes off immediately. I installed the star askew and when the tape they gave didn't work I started to worry. However, I had some 3m double-sided car tape and used it. Silk…

Pros
  • Top marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Well made but uncomfortable

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this decorative stem cap. It looks really great. The colors are burned in and not just painted on. The only problem is that you have to remove the middle chainring, which I had to do when upgrading my stem. The star is almost impossible to remove. The tape provided for this is a joke. I was finally able to pry it out with a screwdriver designed for eyeglass repair. But with that he scratched a star. Great product if you don't need to remove it. But…
