Robust Delphi FG0212 Fuel Pump Module – Enhanced Performance & Durability Review

Easy to install by pulling on the bed. Works as advertised. It is recommended to change the tank filling hoses with the bed switched off.

The fuel gauge stopped working after the first filling of the tank with petrol. It got full and was at 1/4 tank the next morning and has been erratic ever since. The pump itself works well, but the delivery unit is weak.

So far so good - this was a new install on a '97 Dodge Ram 2500. The fuel pump is almost identical to the original: as mentioned the electrical connections have changed somewhat over the years but this fuel pump comes with the correct one Adapter supplied to connect the new 4 pin connector to the old 6 pin connector. Don't drop the fuel tank, instead tilt the platform. Watch a YouTube video to see how much easier it is.

The pump comes with everything except the dump valve. You will have to reuse it, but I took a trick and bought a new one as there are no spare parts available or orderable for this truck. I had no problems with it and filled it up as usual and my truck started straight away. Note that the seal is quite difficult to push all the way down so you can screw the cap back on. I ordered this particular pump because the reviews on cheaper pumps were perfunctory. Raising the bodywork required removing eight bolts (four on each side), three bolts around the fuel filler neck, and disassembling the taillights by lowering the taillights electrical wires to the floor. My assistant dropped the spare tire and removed the license plate holder, but I don't remember if that was necessary. We used two 2x4s to raise the bed by lifting it from the back and prying it open. This pump was perfect for a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L 4x4. As others have noted, all pump fittings are included except for the actual vapor valve. Mine included a donut-shaped o-ring for the valve, although others have stated they didn't receive one. Also, when comparing other brands, remember that this particular vehicle requires a 6-4 pin pigtail, which this kit ACTUALLY provides.
