Everything seems to work fine if you follow the instructions

It says to put a drop of thread sealant on the sensor which I did and it doesn't leak at all. There is also talk of using a relay for fans that draw over 10 amps. The Hayden 526 cooler I used draws about 7-8 amps on startup so I used a relay for safety.

Pros
  • Automotive
Cons
  • Short Instruction

Poor workmanship and not worth the money

This is the third Derale temp sensor I have purchased to rotate my transcooler fan 180 degrees. Either they just stop working, causing the gearbox to overheat, or pins or wires break off. They are not very well made and not worth the money for what you get.

Pros
  • 3/8" barbed brass hose included
Cons
  • Doubtful

It works great if you know how to connect it properly.

Works as intended. If you try to connect the fan directly to the switch, it will burn out very quickly. I ran my switch through a relay to turn on the fan. This has been working fine for three years now. I put a small bead of anaerobic caulk around the base of the threads to prevent leakage.

Pros
  • -6AN inlet
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Simple and effective

I made this fitment in the transmission oil line on a large Hayden plate and plate cooler with fan. The fan switches to a relay via this thermostat. I have an MSD device that reads all available sensor data and Trans temp is one of my options. The thermostat should work at 180 degrees but actually it works at around 183-185. This is certainly due to the fact that the sensor and thermostat are in different places in the transmission oil, hence the different readings. This is a simple install and
