💎 Durable DEWALT Diamond Grit Oscillating Tool Blade for Flush Cuts (DWA4242) Review

Works well for the right application - not suitable for cutting tiles. This is good for cutting mortar, cement board and even concrete in an old bathroom (floor). If you want to cut tiles, buy a tile cutter.

The blade is chrome plated and the diamond is chrome bonded. It flakes off under heavy use. I used 6 blades to cut 2 4" holes although I held them in water to cool. Worked but the diamond chipping was very disappointing. First I ordered two blades. Had to get 4 more to finish.

I used this blade to cut a rough hole in a plaster button. I noticed that after about 2 feet the sand started to rub off the blade. I filled a small container with water and dipped the blade every few dives to prevent heat build-up. From that moment on, the blade didn't wear out at all.

Good for cutting mortar and grout but don't even think about cutting tile with it (unfortunately). After a few seconds, it will fade at that point. But I had to cut some of the tiles to get them out and fix them and it worked great without digging into my waterproofing layer too much.

Had to cut through grout and wall tiles to fit a large back box (two junction boxes instead of three). The tile is a standard white subway tile and regular sanded grout. Three tiles total and about ten inches of grout. The cutting knife literally barely lived up to its task. When it was finished it was effectively bare and smooth. I threw it away. This blade claims to fit almost any oscillating tool including Dremels. It's not like this. You can put it on a Dremel Multi-Max and at first it looks like it will work, but it's actually so loose you can almost pull it out by wiggling it. The center mounting hole on this blade is so large that the Dremel's "mounting flange" is *barely* big enough to even hold it, hence the play. It would be very dangerous to use, it might fall off or worse. In short, DO NOT BUY THIS if you intend to use it…

Purchased for use on plaster. I've used synthetic diamond blades in jigsaws and hole saws and never had a problem so didn't think it would be a problem. The blade dulled in the first 6 inches or so as it cut through the plastered exterior. I have no idea if that's due to the quality of the blade or if it's just not made for this application. For my specific purpose (concrete grinding) this disc is one of the most inexpensive and practical finds in my shop. The blade length is sufficient to penetrate in/under the door jambs (even with a hinged door). As a diamond and not a carbide, it cuts concrete well and for a long time, is aggressive but does not scratch concrete. For me simply the perfect blade for cutting through cement plaster walls. I have a house that was built in 1939 where I'm redoing the electrical wiring and eventually I got tired of using a saw to open the walls for the wiring. The saw ended up doing more damage as I cut through one side of each batten and then started cutting the opposite side of each batten and the vibrations ended up ripping out more plaster than I intended.
