Fragile taps for drill parts and accessories

I work with more tools than I can imagine so I'm not a beginner. Firstly I didn't believe and didn't try, they can't be used in any kind of performance driver. I used a pilot drill and then manually attempted to cut the steel thread. I used a very light coat of oil on the cutters and it still broke quickly. I also pre-drilled the next one, but used more oil and I didn't try to get through multiple times without fail. This technique worked. Bottom line, they're garbage. Proves the saying you get

Pros
  • Drill and tap in one application
Cons
  • Very expensive

Crashed on the second hole.

This tap broke in the second hole I tried to cut in aluminum. While this is a good idea, the poor quality material of taps makes them difficult (and expensive) to use. a "low gear" speed setting and a torque setting set to low. When the bit reaches the thread grooves, downshift, drive at low speed, shift into reverse and remove the bit/tap every few threads. (This cleans the tap's threads and reduces the risk of breakage.) As with any drill, it works better in metal if you drill a smaller pilot

Pros
  • One step deburring and reaming
Cons
  • Expensive

You're worth it! best in Electric Drill Parts & Accessories

I'm installing strobe lights on construction trailers and have decided to attach lights with 8-32 machine screws. My previous method was to mark the hole with a punch, use a pilot bit to drill the first hole, use a #29 to finish the hole, and then a regular 8-32 tap and tap to be used to make the thread. At 2 holes per bracket, x 8 brackets per pendant, it took me some time to install the lights. I still punched my marks with this drill bit, but I used it to drill and cut holes in all the holes

Pros
  • Speed Tip - Drills material quickly
Cons
  • Something else
