Overall a nice addition.

My review should be preceded by the fact that I'm very new to Arduino and this may have some impact on the outcome for me, bye! After installing additional libraries, I was able to get the demo program to scroll 0-9 across the top line of the screen, then to the bottom line and repeat it. After playing around with it (sketch) I was able to change the program to show the message, but not very well. I couldn't sync the top and bottom rows or get them to scroll. The documentation for these modules

Pros
  • Quick change
Cons
  • Almost never

As advertised, well built. I wish the rivets were longer.

This screen delivers what it's supposed to. It's easy to integrate into a project and does what you expect it to. The build quality is excellent. I will say that the stack connector pins are pretty short. This makes it difficult to install a display with another screen, such as an Ethernet screen. This is easily fixed by inserting a second set of batch headers in between. Be sure to order them at the same time if you plan on putting them on anything other than a bare Arduino.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Clever

Works great out of the box

Works very well with the standard Arduino liquid crystal library; I had a sample program that displayed text and processed keystrokes that ran in just a few minutes.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Bad impression

Great if you don't surface mount

Great little display. It uses six digital for the display and one analog for the buttons. I'm using it in a small 3D printed package and the only issue I've had is the pins that are soldered to the top of the board. I had to cut them off in order to surface mount them without all sorts of holes in the case. It may be better not to use them and/or leave them to the user to solder.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Clarity

Universal Prototype

This screen allows me to develop code for my existing project, but it can be used as a mockup to develop sketches before proceeding with circuit and board design.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Long Lead Time

Works great with Nucleo F401RE

Very good quality. Clear screen printing and good soldering. The LCD has no problem with the 3.3V logic level. All buttons read with separate analog values and the reset button also works. Using mbed OS 5 and TextLCD library for control. And since the Nucleo is 5V tolerant on all pins, the 5V VCC taps can be used without level shifters. It's kind of ironic that the mbed ecosystem has an ARM board that is more compatible with Arduino than Due or Zero.

Pros
  • Operating voltage: 5V
Cons
  • Only available in white
