Before using the controller I did some tests with the backlight. The controller did NOT turn on at a certain "turn on" temperature. but turns on either a few degrees below or a few degrees above the specified temperature. Also, the controller didn't shut off at a certain "shutdown" temperature, but shut off again a few degrees below or a few degrees above a certain temperature. Not happy so I returned.

Installed to use the freezer as a garage fridge. Set the temperature to 35-40. Great for keeping beer REALLY cold. It's a little awkward to set the temperature range. Maybe I should have read the instructions more carefully! The real annoyance is that after pressing the set button, it only shows the actual temperature and the set temperature range for a few seconds. It would be much better if it displayed information all the time.

I bought 2 of these. It might be better to control the heat. But it was not suitable for cooling at all. Put on a kegerator to control the cooling and turn-on temperature. Set it to 38 or 36.5. Well, it kept falling below the cutoff at 34 or 35. And the alarm kept going. So he raised the temp to 39 and stopped at 36.5. Same problem if you want to go to 34 or 35 before knocking out the kegerator. return both. Bad call on my part for temporary control.

I've been using it daily for several months and I have to say it's very reliable and accurate. I'm using it as protection for an expensive stock and it saved me from worrying about what's going on now. The only downside I see is that it took about 15 minutes to dial, but my situation is more demanding, so the window setting is small and I wanted to test it out a few times before going. This has saved my bacon many times and was well worth the extra cost of cheaper ones. Five stars in my book!

Setting to control the fan in my greenhouse. Initially I had cutoff temp and cutoff temp too close (within a degree Fahrenheit). Because of this, the fan turned on and off too often. Set the on and off temperature with a difference of at least 5 degrees. Also, place the remote temperature sensor at the height of your plants in the greenhouse. I bought a pair of these and I liked them so much I bought a few more. I use 4 small electric heaters to heat 3 small hunting lodges. I set them to 58-60 degrees, turn on the heat and leave. Very easy to set up and use and I no longer experience large temperature swings in cabins. In my cabin I set it back to 38-40 degrees when I go and it keeps my cabin from freezing the water lines. When I come back I'll put them back to 58-60. I burn wood, but when I go to bed at night the fire sometimes…

During quarantine, I used a spare fridge overflow chest with a different brand of external thermostat control; but it will only go down to 40.5°F, and I wanted it to be around 35°F.
