. My old manual brush was not working properly. I noticed that the rotating brush doesn't work when applying to carpet. The problem was that the rubber strap had stretched. The new straps were much tighter and fixed the problem. Tip: Make sure the belt is twisted in the right direction so it doesn't come loose from the motor shaft and remove the small round cover on the front to ease installation.

Little red dirty vacuum cleaners were really well made in their day so they're still going strong today. Unfortunately, the only part that ever fails is the straps. Luckily, you can still buy straps. These belts fit perfectly and make the vacuum cleaner work practically like new. $5 for two straps is also a good price. Two straps will last a very long time if you don't lose/lost the spare strap before you need it. I tie a spare strap to a vacuum cord so I don't lose it.

These straps work great on my Dirt Devil Ultra. Some reviews indicate that the straps will stretch after a few uses. I've found that if you DO NOT push the machine down while using it, but just let the machine do what it's designed for (vacuuming), the belts don't stretch after such a short time. Also, I find these little devices suck best when they're reaching out for you.
