Don't waste your money

Cheap chinese junk. The metal warped the first time I tried to compress the spring. It's stamped from too thin metal. Don't waste money, buy a quality tool from a trusted seller. A company that sells a tool that doesn't work shouldn't be in business.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Some disadvantages

So simple and works great.

A simple tool for a complex job. Without this tool it is impossible to reset the spring. And it didn't take more than 5 minutes. It would be less time if I got the angle right the first time. One of those tools that you might not use often but will be very happy when you need to.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Tape

Doesn't work on GM with lower door spring

High quality metal tool (but) doesn't fit my lower door spring, it says it fits GM door spring, it's too wide, it doesn't reach the spring, I have unscrewed both bolts from the door and they still don't work, maybe they are made for an upper door spring but not for a 2011 gmc denali hd.

Pros
  • Pleases
Cons
  • Upgrade available

The tool must be made of stronger steel.

This tool should have been a much stronger metal when I tried to remove the door spring the tool bent. I removed the spring with a crowbar. To replace the spring I put the spring in the tool and then in a vise to compress the spring and then drilled holes for another screw near the end of the tool. After that I was able to put the spring back in place.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Expensive

do not recommend!

This tool started to bend and fail before I compressed the spring 3/4. I had to reinforce the back of both sides with steel plates to provide enough support to compress the spring. I used an S10 Jimmy door spring. Even with the added reinforcement, the tool was not properly designed to reach and install the spring. I finally decided to use another method and this tool ended up in the trash.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • I will add later

Don't bother either. suitable for compressors and parts

I bought this specifically to compress a door spring for refit; who was recommended for this task and additionally claimed that he would help/do the task I requested. However, he did neither. I used the tool as recommended and presented and it still failed. It failed because the components were not suitable for the task. From the photos I provided, it appears that the metal used to make the tooling itself was warped and bent, making it unable to compress the door spring for a proper reassembly.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
