Would give four stars if the cable was the shape of the original. The end of the hook on the tailgate needs to have a crease/shoulder to keep it from touching the sheet metal edge I had to smear with shims to get a gap.Either that or trim the metal edge a bit.It still works but should be a direct replacement for my 1985 Ford F150.You don't need to make any modifications to get it they work properly.

Does not fit my F250 truck. The angle at the head of the cable is different from the stock cable and it immediately tore the grommet around the product when I closed the tailgate for the first time. The instructions are also vague. I chatted with Dorman and they were extremely unhelpful. They just said "who knows, your truck is 31 years old" and essentially said there was nothing they could do but send the information to their development team. I ordered this cable to replace a broken and rusty main cable on my 1995 F-150. This cable fitted perfectly and was very easy to install with just one screw to loosen. The cable is well made and just the right length.
