Fixed 3.0 V6 Chirp

Fixed a horrible chirp on a 3.0 V6 in a 2000 Ford Ranger. Accessing the sensor/synchronizer is difficult without removing the ignition coil and wrestling with the wiring harness. I didn't use the alignment tool. By precisely noting and photographing the position of the sensor flag in the synchronizer body, I was able to simply insert the new part in the correct position. Total installation time (including cleaning) should be around 30 minutes.

What offer! for camshafts and parts

It would cost me about $700 to do this job professionally. Instead, it was the price of this part. What offer! I don't wield wrenches often, but I still managed to get the job done (despite being very meticulous) in under two hours. What gave me the confidence to get the job done was the built in alignment tool. It saved me from all the worries associated with this work. Just have someone tap the starter until the shaft shank roughly lines up with the notch on the synchronizer. Then you canโ€ฆ

Some difficulty installing

Installed on a Ranger 3.0 and had difficulty reinstalling. After lots of broken joints and cussing I put both parts very close together and found that the oil pump drive was not indexed the same as the factory part, similar but not exact. This difference caused the part to not fully seat when using the alignment tool. I ended up having to knock it down with a rubber mallet to get the oil pump shaft to rotate a bit to align with the synchronizer. Not the biggest discrepancy, but good to know ifโ€ฆ

It fits my 2005 Ford Taurus OHV engine.

My 2005 Ford Taurus recently started chirping and I purchased this product after doing some research online. I was a bit concerned at first because I saw comments online that this product was the wrong size, but it turned out to fit my car well. alignment tool. In my experience the alignment tool is very helpful, here's how I did it: 1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal; Remove the air filter housing cover and the tube attached to it and 3 small parts that are attached to the tube2โ€ฆ

Easy installation if you take your time.

My 2001 Taurus started making a creaking noise from the driver/transmission side of the engine bay. After a little research on the internet, I read that the camshaft synchronization starts to work after about 100,000 km. The online manuals say you have to spin the engine to cylinder 1 TDC to change this. I have an easier way to find the OT that worked perfectly! - Begin by removing the throttle cable cover, disconnecting and reinstalling both throttle cables. - Disconnect the small coolant hose
