Dorman 746 148 Door Lock Actuator Review

Absolutely no problems with it. I had to replace the driver and passenger door locks on my Ranger as the originals had shorted out dust. This is the perfect replacement and they worked great. It's a little tedious to install, but that's only because the original design is boring. You'll need to remove the entire door latch assembly to remove the original actuator, but if you're mechanically inclined this should be fairly easy.

The lock actuator on my 2004 Ford Ranger has expired. Although I'm an OEM, when I saw the astronomical price difference I decided to try the Dorman unit. The fit is perfect, all cables and connectors are fine. It works, but the original doesn't. One star deduction because the drive lever and pin are made of plastic and not steel. I'm amazed at the longevity after a few years worth of 110 degree days. So you have to ask for an extra dollar, it was worth it!

These locks are great. I used it to replace the lock actuator on the drivers door of a 2000 Ford F150. Installing the actuator itself was easy, replacing it was tricky. Easy to install and works great for the first 3 months but last month it started making a strange noise when I tried to open the door on the 99 f150. Sometimes when it made a noise, it didn't open all the way, so I pushed the button twice. Now it won't open my door, it just makes a grinding noise when I try to open it. Works great, looks a little different than the original part. The Winstar door panel is very easy to remove. The four locking bolts need to be loosened so you can pull the locking mechanism towards the plate holes so you can see it. The most difficult thing is to remove the lock drive from the lock, it's hard to understand how to do it, and that's why I'm writing a review. Excellent product much cheaper than Ford OEM. very easy to replace. I've had about 4 months since the repair and they still work great.
