I ordered this Dorman unit thinking it was a good enough imitation like most of their products. As others have said, everything is plastic except for the handle/inner lever and pivot bar. This includes the struts holding the pivot bar, which carry most of the load, so it's only a matter of time before one of the struts breaks. About 4-6 months ago the original grip was replaced with one of these Dorman models. Collapsed not long ago. One of the bolts (that goes through the door) has the inside of the 'nut' torn out of the block so the handle isn't a snug fit against the outside. It still works. But my original worked too! This is a GMC K2500 job from 1998. Look on youtube how to install. The trim on this one is too small and it took some 'management' to get it to fit and stay on the handle. I wish they made everything in one piece and it was a lot easier to install. I saw reviews that the lock does not hold. It is, but it's *really* a tight fit. When I pushed it in as far as possible, it fell out. I squeezed it with my vise and it stayed in place. Basically, challenge it until it clicks, and then some more until you see a tiny gap behind the latch. I would prefer if the body was metal.
