🚪 Dorman 79344 Front Driver Side Exterior Door Handle for Toyota Models - Smooth Black Finish Review

After almost two years of use, the plastic lever on the side pinches. broken metal drive (?). I pre-drilled a hole and put a screw in there to act as a lever. This continued for another year and a half before the front of the handle separated from the substrate. I'll use a different brand this time.

Perfect fit. Easy to install. Has worked flawlessly for three years. Broken. Dorman doesn't care about the warranty. Dorman tells me to contact CRUZ MOTORSPORTS through Revain. You never answered. Revain refunded my money. This is the second Dorman door knob I've had problems with and no one has ever offered any guarantees on it.

I installed this myself on my Tacoma '01. Looking at the paint I think the original could have been 2-3mm larger on each side but there are no gaps where there shouldn't be. The handle feels firm when pulled (the original felt "soft" for months, then finally broke after spending a weekend in Maine in 0 degrees). I would buy this item again.

Fits 2002 Tacoma with no problems. However, the handle is NOT OEM quality. The last one I bought lasted about 11 months. The problem is that the connection is not boosted because it is weak. You can't tell until it's installed with metal poles. I use the pin carefully, I pick the pin closest to the keyhole, that's where the "meatiest" plastic seems to be. In the cold (32 degrees), these handles break like brittle peanuts. I'd love to find a stronger door handle, but so far it's impossible…

Replaced with a Toyota Tacoma truck. A friend did the work so I'm not sure how difficult it is to install, but it looks and works as it should. There are no complaints. UPDATE: This handle broke after 14 months. Rating changed from 5 to 2 stars. The handle should definitely last longer than a year and while I understand there are many factors that can affect a part, we don't abuse or abuse our car or door handles.
