Easy install on my 2008 Ford Explorer 4L V6

100 miles on my new thermostat housing. Easy install on my 2008 Ford Explorer 4L V6. I would suggest buying new bolts holding this case to the motor. The screws tend to rust and can be very difficult to remove if the screws are stripped. I suggest removing the nests from the port cargo. Use a thermostat sensor o-ring which I didn't use at first and there was a small leak. Recommended Tools: Long Reach Pliers, Torque Wrench, Ratchet/Socket Bits. It was the first thing I've ever done to a car and

GREAT SOLUTION!: Thermostat Housing

FAST DELIVERY WITH THERMOSTAT ALREADY INSTALLED IN HOUSING. REMOVE DEFECTIVE PART ON CAR. REPLACE RUBBER O-RING FOR EXISTING THERMOSTAT SENSOR AND INSTALL SENSOR. INSTALL THE SENSOR INTO THE NEW HOUSING AND AFTER CLEANING THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT AREA IN THE VEHICLE, INSTALL THIS PART IN ITS PLACE AND TIGHTEN THE EXISTING SCREWS CAREFULLY, NOT OVER TIGHTENING. THE ONLY DOUBLE CHECK THAT WAS REQUIRED IS THE DOUBLE CHECK AND TIGHTENING OF THE (3) SCREWS ATTACHING THE THERMOSTAT BODY/HOUSING…

Perfect fit but be careful

I recently replaced the thermostat housing (upper and lower) on my 2009 Ford Explorer. It was perfect for both the top and bottom (item fits both). The only complaint I have is that there is a hose connector at the top which my car doesn't need. The parts supplier supplied an insert for this fitting which was great but only a small metal clip keeps it in place. There is no way this clip would last long or deliver a great deal of pressure. If the fitting breaks, all the coolant goes with it. I…

Works perfectly! Direct OEM replacement. Revine was at the best price too!

Good price, quality seems at least OEM. I had a hard time making a really close comparison as my OEM was covered in crust. But the exchange was easy. I also bought a 9377 coolant temp sensor and replaced it at the same time. You don't have to buy the Revain recommended padding as stated by others on this site. This part contains everything you need to install. In fact, I'm not even sure if I need to replace the coolant temperature sensor. I'm sure it was just perfect. I only did it because I'd…

Cheap repair for Explorer leaks, be careful with thermostat compatibility

We thought we had a huge repair bill but then we heard a tip that the thermostat housing often cracks on these Explorers. Of course, after chasing the current for a few minutes with a flashlight and a step stool, we saw coolant leaking out of the thermostat housing. Get this detail and get it done with a few curses but no bleeding. We made it. In this case, there are many problems with installing a thermostat. The new gasket and the old thermostat didn't like each other, so the parts store for…

Installation went well.

Quality of parts is good. Contrary to what was stated in the Q&A and by the manufacturer, mine actually came with an o-ring for the coolant temp sensor if you decide to port yours from the old part. The questions and answers are mostly random because everyone seems to have different answers. Let's get to the installation. Quite easy. There's a lot less dirt when the coolant is drained first. So you can replace it with fresh coolant, which won't hurt. The old part came off without removing any…

Perfect replacement (upgrade) for Explorer 4 2007

Perfect replacement (upgrade) for Explorer 2007 4.0L. The old fuselage leaked where the two halves met, or at least I think so; it was just a very ugly, hard mess. My first attempt to fix the problem was a new thermostat and gasket, but that didn't stop the leak. So I bought such a kit: I drained the radiator, unscrewed 3 screws (not the 3 screws that hold the top cover of the thermostat and be careful not to accidentally break them off), 3 hoses and a temperature sensor. At the same time I…
