I felt like the edge of the fitting was pinching the o-ring

After installation I opened the valve and it then wouldn't close. It felt springy, like the rim of the port was clamping on an O-ring. Luckily my local Ford dealer had this part in stock. Fitted the Ford part, works great. It was in an E-350 van strong enough to fit in, but twice? Don't waste your time and money with this junk. Get a Ford piece, it looks even more substantial.

Great part! - Fuel System

A common problem on Ford 7.3 is a leaking drain valve in the fuel water separator. While driving, the smell of diesel fuel penetrated the cabin, and of course that was the problem. (Above is the old valve ready to go with the gaskets completely removed and the new blue Dorman 904-202 gaskets.) After installation the fuel smell was gone, not to mention the obvious fuel leak on a hot engine, the hazard was gone and my MPG improved. Perfect fit for my 2000 Ford F-350 with 7.3 engine.

Excellent valve.: Replacement parts

One day I smelled a strong odor of diesel fuel coming from the engine compartment. Some web research led me to believe that the water separator valve seals on my 2001 Ford F350 had gone bad. I removed the old valve and found the internet was right. This new valve from Dorman looks exactly like the old valve, except of course the new valve has two brand new seals. Watch an online video on how to replace a valve. My only recommendation would be to get a good, low profile ratchet to get the torx…
