Be very careful when replacing

2 days after replacing this VVT sprocket my timing chain broke. Can't tell if it was that part, most likely I stretched it when I installed the sprocket, but the shop I had the car towed to (because I was 50 miles from home when it broke ), said they would never use that brand of parts on any car. They ended up replacing the chain and my 2 day old part. Maybe sharing mfr just by sharing my experience is not a very honest review.

Good replacement part

The 2012 Honda CRV has been making noise on start up for about a year and I kept reading that it wouldn't hurt the engine until the engine skipped the clock and started. I chose the Dorman part as it has good reviews and is a lot cheaper. It was unlocked so installation was easy: screw on and tighten to spec, then twist until it clicks into the locked position. It seems to perform just as well as the OEM VTC and has a good power curve and most importantly no more rattle on startup - this worked

Pros
  • Durable test results

Precision fit and good quality

This part was an exact replacement for my 2009 Honda Accord. After watching a few YouTube videos on replacing a gear, I got down to business. It only took me about five hours in total. This immediately solved the problem of cold starts, when the valves knocked very loudly in the first few seconds of engine operation. I am very satisfied with the quality of the item. I had no problems installing the transmission. Doorman's products are generally of a higher quality than some of the cheaper…

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Questionable senior purchase

Hard Start Knock CRV

Installed on a 2014 CRV with 133,000 miles that was making a loud rattle when starting the engine. This seems to be a common problem and replacing it fixed the issue for me. There is a video on how to do it right. To make it easier to use a marker on the chain and sprockets to mark location, you don't want the timing to be wrong! Be sure to readjust the intake and exhaust valves after replacement. I also changed the spark plugs here, the previous owner never did it. The rubber grommets would…
