Direct replacement for my 2012 Wrangler.

I'm glad it comes with two because I know it will break again in a few years. Shame on MOPAR for using such a fragile part. NOTE: Be sure to remove all parts of the defective one. I don't know how the oil system works, but the parts are fragile and can get caught in the small hole in the filter housing. Thank you Dorman!

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons

Fits right and cheap!

A perfect fit, Chrysler doesn't offer it without a complete assembly, which would cost a fortune. So how did mine break? It may just be worn out, but I suspect that when removing the filter, if you don't bother removing the air hose or move it significantly, you will end up tilting the filter to pull it out and this will damage the filter unnecessarily burden plastic. Lid. So it's probably my fault it broke.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • A few little things

Jeep will charge over $200 if this part breaks

I have a 2013 Jeep JK. Have this to have on hand if the original becomes brittle and breaks. If this part of the oil filter housing breaks, Jeep wants you to purchase and replace the entire housing. Many thanks to Dorman for reinforcing and providing this simple and inexpensive solution. Let's hope the Jeep engineer responsible for this crappy design gets fired. Jeep redesigned the oil filter housing for 2014.

Pros
  • Annual Trial
Cons
  • Upgrades

Simple fix to a common problem

After much internet research and speaking to the dealer about the proposed $800 repair to replace the entire oil cooler, this option was highly preferred. Delivery was very quick and installation was quick and easy. It took longer to fish out the remaining parts from the old broken valve cover than to assemble the new one. I genuinely believed this product was a life saver from FCA's frustratingly poor design.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Will work

Fixed a broken bypass valve while

Replaced a broken bypass valve with this item and got the car back on the road. Much cheaper than other solutions. I'm only giving four stars because I don't know how long this will last. I'll probably buy 2 more to have on hand just in case. Make sure you installed it correctly. It grabs and clicks the first section of tower/cage it fits into, but you have to push it until it clicks a second time.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

I'm so glad Dorman is doing this.

I was changing the oil on a large trailer when this thing broke down. After a few minutes of searching I found this part. I'm so glad they do. Chrysler, as usual, did a terrible job designing their engines and vehicles. If you need a factory replacement, you will have to pay for all body assembly. Thank you Dorman for making this great product to replace a terrible Chrysler product. This has saved many people from buying a $500 home.

Rescuer. for Oil Filter and Accessories

2013 Jeep jk. 76,000 miles. I went for a "scheduled" oil change and heard a strange popping sound as I removed the oil filter cap. I ordered this part but still had to go to work. I did a little research and found that you can still drive it as this part is designed to bypass the flow of oil when the filter is clogged. I knew it wasn't fully filtered since the bypass is mostly open when it's removed, but I put new oil and filter in and figured it would be safe for a few miles to and from work…

Pros
  • Ideal for a Small Home
Cons
