It worked fine for me - Keyless entry systems

Worked for my 2012 Silverado LTI when I tried to connect a newer remote, the unit never beeped but all my other remotes were programmed well. You can try splicing a newer style key fob) but for the money (compared to going to a locksmith, buying your own tech 2 or going to a dealer) it was worth it

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • unreliable

Can program a variety of remotes, not just the ones in the box

Easy to follow instructions. It programmed my truck to recognize the remote that came with it, my original factory remote, and another multifunction remote that the car dealer gave me (remote start, hatchback, etc.). For a multifunction remote, the extra buttons obviously don't do anything for my car, but the lock/unlock and horn buttons work as expected.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Works just like the original

This remote works great! It took me 3 minutes to set it up. Just plug it in, wait for the beep and press and hold the unlock and lock button. We only programmed one but the programmer works 3 times so I bought more remotes. The instructions are on the programmer in case you lose them, which is very handy as I lose everything! This remote worked with my 2014 Chevy 2500HD for a decent price. I would buy one of these and then two remotes for less than $20.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Worked Fast and Great 2013 Chevy Traverse

This product worked great on a 2013 Chevy Traverse that was missing the remote. The instructions were simple and literally got the job done in under a minute programming 2 keyless fobs purchased from Amazon. Didn't have to go to the dealer and had no problems at all. I was blown away by how quick and easy it was to do this for a car that beeped loudly when you got in with a key. I literally worked at 1am just to check and make sure it was working, the car also started with no problems. I madeโ€ฆ

Dorman should let you know first!

I gave it three stars simply because it doesn't tell you you can't use it if your truck doesn't have keyless entry from the factory. I bought it for a 2011 Silverado WT and couldn't install it. I contacted Dorman and the person who helped me looked up my VIN number. He told me it wouldn't work because my truck wasn't equipped with factory key fobs. If there was a disclaimer or something to mention in the instructions or item description I would try to check it out first! Sorry Dorman! I haveโ€ฆ

Easy to use and saves $$!

I have a 2012 Chevy Silverado. I used it to program the key fob I bought and the one that came with this programmer. Please read the instructions carefully! I spent one of the 3 times without following the directions. On my second try, I got into the truck, closed and locked all the doors, turned the key to IGN, and plugged in the programmer. I waited for a beep and then pressed the lock and unlock button on the 1st key fob. After approximately 10 seconds, a beep will sound and/or the doorsโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High test scores for grip and durability
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

He gave me a code that I can't erase. (Chevy Silverado 2012 Lt)

Programmed Dorman keyfob, then tried to change keyfob. He removed Dorman's keychain. Did it again to reprogram the Dorman key fob. I used it for maybe 3 attempts and didn't want to try again. It worked but the service light came on. The truck started and had a very bad idle. I checked the code with an OBD2 reader. GOT U0073 raw C073. Codes cleared but still showing the same code but at least the service light is off and sounds good after driving 10 miles. I don't know if this is forever Iโ€ฆ

Wow Wow Wow Dorman 99161 Remote & Programmer

After hours of research and even visiting the dealer by contacting Chevy/GM I have learned a lot, maybe almost as much as the Chevy dealer and customer service. And then I came across the programmers at Dorman. I started studying programmer reviews and videos. I thought it was worth a try for $50 so I ordered it from Revain. I also wanted more remotes for my new 2012 Silverado, so I ordered some of the Revain as well. I have read the instructions and watched the video. Went to the truck withโ€ฆ
