A dead Dremel tool revived

All I knew was that the motor was running but the chuck wasn't spinning. I thought the steel shaft snapped. Was in the middle of a project and needed a tool. So I put the broken one in the closet and bought a new one. The other day I happened to be looking at spare parts and saw this flexible plastic part of the clutch. This prompted me to disassemble and examine an instrument that had sat in a cupboard for several years. Of course, the clutch in my tool eventually hardened and collapsed…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • No automatic

I had a small problem with my Dremel tool and discovered that there is a rubber/plastic coupling that connects the motor drive shaft to the drill spindle. If, not if, this clutch wears, your Dremel may work fine with no load, but once you start drilling, the motor will keep turning but the drill will stop. I used the multipack and put the spare part in the Dremel tool case. Replacing the clutch is a breeze, although a third hand helps. Watch youtube videos on how to do the job (remove six…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Safety

Liven up your 395 with hand and power tools

My father bought my Dremel 395 with a deluxe kit in the early 90's. A few months ago he started playing, the shaft stopped rotating for a moment and then started again. It eventually got so bad that it just stopped working and I was looking for a 10 volt lithium ion battery to replace it when I figured I could open it up and see what was going on. I immediately noticed the worn portion of the clutch and honestly wasn't surprised to find it right away on the Revain. These replacement parts are…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Some difficulties

I was able to easily open the plastic body of the power tool (6 screws)

This clutch was an exact replacement for the failed drive clutch on my old Sears Craftsman variable speed power tool (made by Dremel for Sears). I was in the middle of a project when the motor stopped working (the motor kept running but the tool didn't). A quick perusal of the owner's manual, which I happily kept in my power tool box, revealed a parts diagram that pointed to the probable cause, a faulty drive clutch. Using a set of "Torx" screwdrivers, I was able to easily open the plastic case

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • something different
