Counterbore Set by Drill Warehouse Review

According to the description, they are delivered in a metal box. Mine came without a metal box. Also, right out of the box, all the edges are damaged and the surface is covered with rust, which means it's not titanium as described. I'd be surprised if they were HSS, but I didn't test for hardness. The cutting edge runs parallel to the shank at the top and bottom, meaning they won't bite into the metal and remove shavings.

My first impression of this set was that they looked very well made. However, I have found that they are made quite cheaply here. For the price I paid they do their job but from the start they seemed boring. I don't need them very often, so they work well for use here and there. I wouldn't recommend using them in metal and they only seem to work decently in soft pine. They do what they have to do, but not very well.

Honestly I don't know what makes a good countersink from a bad one other than just not doing what it says target. I'm happy to report that these bits work very well (I've only used them on wood) and are very easy to control. They have no problems with unguided holes or recessed cavities. I did notice that the cutter sometimes caused some abrasion to the fibers in the wood, but nothing that couldn't be fixed in 5 seconds with a 120 grit.
