To be clear, the product worked as intended but not great. It does the job of connecting to the wall and locking the vent in place. However, the brackets connecting the two parts are very weak. During installation, any pressure on the vent caused the wall connector to separate from the vent. My setup (basement) required the vent to be about 7 feet from the outlet of the above-ground dryer. Note that if your old installation has an outside vent pipe that goes straight into the house, you will need to cut it to length. You need to measure fairly accurately as usually the outer vent plate (with fins) rests on some lugs that snap into square holes on the pipe. The inner end is simply pushed onto the dryer flange.
